My wife and I lived in the unit across Abby’s and only found out yesterday that she passed away. We are deeply shocked and saddened. Abby was such a cheerful and friendly person, she was the first person to get our newborn daughter gifts when we came back home from the hospital in July 2013. We used to chat often in the hallway and she used to be so loving towards our daughter. Even through her chemo, she was always super cheerful and never once let us think that it was a condition this serious. When we hadn’t seen her in a while, we used naively that she had moved back with her parents to take some time off after treatments, but were shattered to hear this sad news. We are thinking of her and will keep her in our prayers. Heartiest condolences to the family.

Dear Samuels family,
I was so sad and heartbroken when I heard about Abbey. I knew her in high school (I was a couple years older) and always remember her laughing and smiling. She had such a positive presence. I am thinking of her and all of you during this time. Much love to all of you.

My heartfelt condolences to all of you. I first met Abbey at 2626 just after she rescued Sophie. She was so happy! Over time, our schedules seemed to coincide and I was always returning home from work when she was walking Sophie. We would always visit and chat. Sophie would just plop herself down knowing that we would be here for awhile. Abbey had so much light. She was always smiling and it was contagious. When she returned to the building in the summer, I was so happy to see her and she was happy to be back and again was smiling and lighting up my day.
Know that your daughter, sister, aunt and granddaughter brought light to my life even in those few precious moments each evening. She will be terribly missed.
May her life be a blessing to all.

I loved seeing Abby and Sophie coming in from their walks. Abby was so cheerful and Sophie so adorable. They were very happy together and brought smiles to everyone who encountered them.

Dear Jeff and Family, I was so sorry to hear about Abbey. Jeff I’ve thought of you and her many times this week since Scotty told me that she had a relapse and was in hospice…… I only met her on a few occasions but had the chance to sit next to her at a Cubs game at Wrigley one afternoon. We had a lot of fun. Abbey’s tooth actually came out in one of the foods from the concession stands! For the rest of the game we kiddingly called her Abbey Woo-Woo 🙂 My heartfelt condolences to everyone. Corey Kaplan
